In a Recent Interview,  Halsey opened up about the romance that sparked the inspiration for the concept for her new Album Hopeless Fountain Kingdom and her new single ” Now or Never”

“I was in a relationship with someone for a really long time and I broke up with them and then sat down to write this album and realized I didn’t know anything about myself,” Halsey reveals, saying it was the biggest inspiration for telling a tale of star-crossed lovers across the album. “I didn’t know how to write about me, I only knew how to write about him, and that was bad.”

Halsey says that the revelation made her rethink who she was without another person in the picture.

What does she do when she isn’t living beneath the eyes of a lover? She felt she had lost the strong girl from her Badlands album and what resulted was a soul-searching mission to find herself.

“When I’m alone and I’m not in a relationship, who am I?” the singer asked herself. “When I’m getting dressed in the morning and they’re not sitting at the foot of my bed, what clothes do I pick out? When I’m laying on my couch and want to order in some food, what restaurant do I choose? What playlist do I put on in the car?

Who am I when they’re not watching me—when they’re not judging me?”

Once she had answered those questions and felt she had regained her sense of self, the music came naturally, Halsey says.

Sounds like the new album is going to be an emotional journey.
